Amitabh Bachchan Wants Severe Punishment For Mumbai Gangrape Culprits

Mumbai was shamed when a 23-year-old photojournalist was gangraped by five men on August 22, at Mumbai's Shakti Mills Compound. People from all sectors of the society have condemned the gangrape and Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan wants severe punishment for the rapists. Talking about the sad incident, the megastar said, "We have all been very very distressed and shocked at this most heinous kind of gangrape that happened in Mumbai, more so because we have always had great pride in Mumbai, as being a city which is devoid of any kind of such incidents. Women have always been looked upon with a lot of grace and dignity here and they have always felt very safe here, irrespective of where they go, how they travel and at whichever time but this is a huge tragedy and the name of the city has taken a beating and we have to rectify that."

"I hope the authorities will take immediate steps to catch the culprits and put them through rigorous investigations and then make sure that the law acts as soon as possible (sic)," he further added. The Mumbai police has arrested all the five accused and they'll be tried in fast track court.
