Patients With Mental Health Issues In The Emergency Room

according to a new poll conducted by the American College of Emergency Physicians, People with mental illness often wait many hours -- or even days -- in an emergency room before receiving the needed care. One in five ER doctors polled said they have had psychiatric patients who needed hospitalization, but had to wait up to five days before being assigned an in-patient bed. Two further studies support the poll results, showing that patients with varying mental health problems are more likely to be stuck in an emergency department for over 24 hours.
