UN Security Council adopts anti-settlement resolution as US abstains

President Obama chose to abstain from voting on the anti-settlement resolution proposed by the UN Security Council. This decision goes against the immense pressure placed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President-elect Donald Trump who pushed for the US to veto it. As a result of the US abstaining, the resolution demanding an end to Israeli settlements was passed on Friday with 14 votes. Danny Danon, Israel's UN ambassador
