Forbes notes, "In the closing days of his campaign, Trump vilified Slim, the world's sixth richest person, as part of a globalist cabal conspiring to undermine his candidacy. Slim responded by saying Trump's policies would 'destroy' the American economy."
However, after their recent meeting held on Saturday in Florida, Trump's tone was quite different. He wrote on Twitter, "Yes, it is true - Carlos Slim, the great businessman from Mexico, called me about getting together for a meeting. We met, HE IS A GREAT GUY!”
According to the Washington Post, Slim was among the many who criticized Trump’s campaign promises to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement and curb immigration from Mexico.
Fox News reports that a spokesperson for Slim noted the positive feelings about the recent meeting were mutual.
