Aleppo residents await evacuation amid uncertain ceasefire deal

The evacuation of rebel-held eastern Aleppo has been delayed, despite a ceasefire agreement set in place by Russia, allowing residents to flea the city. The agreement marks one of President Bashar al-Assad's greatest victories, as it ends fighting the city for the first time in more than five years. However, it still remains uncertain when residents would be allowed to leave east Aleppo. The United Nations said on Wednesday it was “not involved” in plans to evacuate fighters and civilians, but is willing to assist in the process.
