Donald Trump has been named Time's 'Person of the Year,' but he and many of his supporters aren’t entirely thrilled with the magazine’s cover.
In addition to declaring Trump 2016’s most influential newsmaker, “for better or for worse,” the magazine refers to him as, “The President of the Divided States of America.”
Trump, in an interview with the 'Today' show, balked at the assertion, saying, “I didn't divide them.”
Twitter user Pro-Lifer For Trump expressed a similar sentiment, writing, “While Time selected PEOTUS Donald J Trump as Time's Person of the Year...it said President of these Divided States. Uhmmmm, Obama was too.”
Another user tweeted, “Time magazine nominated Trump as person of the year, but listed him as president of the DIVIDED states of America! How disrespectful.”
Malik Obama, the president's brother, commented, “TIME magazine calling Mr.Trump 'President of The Divided States of America' VERY WRONG!”
The cover drew support as well.
One of the users who spoke favorably of the juxtaposition, noted, “I love Time's front cover for Trump being ‘Person of the Year'...solemn with ‘President Of the Divided States of America’ next to him.”
