On CNN’s "New Day," host Alisyn Camerota recently floated the idea of people wearing headscarves to support Muslim-American women who have become fearful about wearing their hijabs in public; some criticized the suggestion on social media.

A CNN anchor has floated the idea of Americans wearing headscarves to show their support to Muslim women, reports the Daily Caller.
Alisyn Camerota, a host of the program 'New Day,' made the comments on Monday during a segment on Muslim women’s rising fear since the election.
It features a taped interview with Marwa Abdelghani, a Muslim woman, who said that she was walking down a street when a passing driver spit at her.
She also revealed that, as the election approached, she decided to temporarily stop wearing the traditional headcovering in public.
After the taped piece ended, Camerota commented, “Maybe there will be a movement where people wear the headscarf in solidarity. You know, even if you’re not Muslim. Maybe it’s the way people shave their heads, you know, sometimes in solidarity with somebody who is going through something. Maybe you’ll see a wave of the opposite happen.”
Some on social media have criticized her suggestion, with one person noting, “How bout Muslims should take off their headscarves in solidarity with Americans.”
