A little girl travels alone to a small island in the Pacific looking for her lost grandparents but instead finds a doomed dog living alone inside one abandoned train station, not far from a spooky graveyard. With darkness coming fast she decides to spend the night with this strange blade carrying dog hoping to make a difference and in the end, makes a great discovery. Her name is Joan and this is her story.

One cold November night while out walking I heard a wonderful symphony. It was The Fox Symphony by Lalo Schifrin. Quickly it brightened my day. And there and then because of this fabulous symphony of light, I could see my book Midnight Train to Joan come to life. I could see Joan, Wando and Susan riding the lost railway with their rooster perched like a sail. And because they are riding the wonder express of Lalo Schifrin's musical tour de force, I knew they are in safe hands and would for sure reach wherever they are going.
It took a good month and more, planning and animating. The result isn’t fantastic but it was fun. My book was finally living!
For some reason I always thought the back notes of E.T. by John Williams reads “Thanks, John. You gave life. Steven Spielberg.” I was way out. It was a composite of his notes from Raiders of the Lost Ark. Yet Lalo Schifrin’s The Fox Symphony, did and still does that for me. It “gave life”. Thank you.
This Fox Symphony is abridged. Please check out the full rainbow version.
