Trump's Team Reportedly Wants Romney To Publicly Apologize

Members of Donald Trump’s transition team have reportedly indicated that Mitt Romney may have to publicly apologize for harsh criticisms he made about Trump during the presidential race in order to boost his chances of being offered the Secretary of State position.
Mitt Romney is considered to be a contender for the Secretary of State position in President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming administration, but he may have to apologize to increase his chances of getting the offer.
A transition team member reportedly revealed to Fox News’ Ed Henry that there have been internal talks about possibly making Romney publicly apologize for the strong criticisms he lodged against Trump during the presidential race.
In March, the former Massachusetts governor gave a speech where he stated, in part, “Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud. His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University.”
Trump responded by saying about Romney’s failed 2012 bid for president, “He was begging for my endorsement.”
Romney tweeted back, “If Trump had said 4 years ago the things he says today about the KKK, Muslims, Mexicans, disabled, I would NOT have accepted his endorsement.”
Despite the clash, the two met recently and are believed to have had a positive discussion, notes the Huffington Post.
However, the transition team has reportedly been unable to decide if Romney, Trump loyalist Rudy Giuliani, or other top conservatives should head the State Department.
Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway seemed to indicate uncertainty about the former governor, tweeting on Thursday, “Receiving deluge of social media & private comms re: Romney. Some Trump loyalists warn against Romney as sec of state.”
