As wildfires rage Israeli police arrest 13 suspected arsonists

Police in Israel have arrested 13 people suspected of arson. Since Tuesday wildfires have rampaged across central and northern Israel, at least some of which have been started deliberately.

Palestinian firefighters have joined the Israelis and help has come from Turkey,
Greece, Cyprus, Croatia, Italy and Russia. Egypt and Jordan have also offered to help bring the blazes under control.
“No need to look of religion or anything else. The human being is the same for the firefighters, all over the world,” said a Palestinian firefighter.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called the fires “terrorism”, but unseasonal drought and easterly winds have worsened the situation. Some 80,000 people have been evacuated from third city Haifa.
“So far there are 13 persons arrested in the last hours. Another suspect was arrested from the Abu Tor area in Jerusalem. He was carrying means to commit arson,” said Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan.
These are the worst wildfires since 2010 when 44 people died in a huge fire in the north.
Around Haifa the fires have been tamed, but 700 homes have been destroyed.
