Ellen DeGeneres arrived at the White House on Tuesday, ready to accept her Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Well, almost ready.
She forgot her ID, so security wouldn’t let her in.
Soon after she was denied entry, DeGeneres tweeted news of the sad development. She also shared a photo showing her sitting on a bench all by herself, just waiting for somebody to give her the all clear.
According to ABC News, "DeGeneres was able to get her identity confirmed in the nick of time" and made it inside the White House.
She is among 21 people receiving the high honor this year.
Other 2016 Presidential Medal of Freedom recipients include Michael Jordan, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Hanks, Robert Redford, and Diana Ross, notes the New York Daily News.
