Former French PM Fillon to win conservative primary

French voters have booted out ex-president Nicolas Sarkozy to be the conservatives' nominee in the presidential race, pushing forward ex-prime minister Francois Fillon to the top. After losing to Fillon, Sarkozy endorsed Fillon for the second-round vote to take place next Sunday. Fillon, who won 44 percent of the votes for the first-round of voting, pledges to cut public sector jobs and decrease government spending. It is predicted that Fillon will face off National Front leader Marine Le Pen in May.
