Donald Trump has declared that he believes Tom Brady, the quarterback for the New England Patriots, is “totally innocent’ of any ‘Deflategate’ wrongdoing.

Trump’s passionate defense of his NFL pal was given back in October, but only recently aired on Fox News.

In the segment, Trump tells Harvey Levin of TMZ, “He’s a friend of mine, he’s a great guy, and he’s a great athlete obviously, but he’s a winner.”

He also said, “I think Tom is totally innocent. I think Tom is — first of all, I know him, he’s such an honorable guy, and I’m with him all the way.”

Brady was not quite as openly enthusiastic in his support of Trump during the presidential campaign.

Though the quarterback once described the possibility of a Trump White House as “great” he remained incredibly tight-lipped about which candidate he preferred.

Even after Trump’s win, Brady declined to reveal which nominee got his vote.
