NEW YORK: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Maleeha Lodhi has said that Pakistan wants Afghan refugees to voluntarily return to their homeland, ARY News reported. .

Lodhi, speaking in the United Nations General Assembly, said that Pakistan has played a key role for peace in Afghanistan.

She added that negotiations between Afghan Government and Taliban is the only solution to the problems of Afghanistan.

She also said that world community has appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for peace in the country.

Pakistan’s representative to UN said that Pakistan has suffered economically and socially due to the conflict in neighboring Afghanistan in the past 30 years.

Lodhi said that the success of the reconciliation process between the Afghan Government and Taliban insurgents depends on the responsible role of the Afghan people.
