Former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Johnny Manziel reached a tentative deal with prosecutors to dismiss his domestic assault case with an ex-girlfriend.
His attorney Jim Darnell said that while there is still work that needs to be done, he is encouraged by the steps taken so far.
Manziel, who played two seasons with the Cleveland Browns before being waived in March, is accused of threatening and hitting former girlfriend Colleen Crowley last January.
The domestic assault case is only one of three legal situations involving Manziel but carries a penalty of up to a year and jail and a $4,000 fine.
