On November 5th, just days before the presidential election, Dr. Sam Wang of the Princeton Election Consortium confirmed on CNN’s Smerconish show that he continued to stand behind a tweet he had posted reading, “It is totally over.  If Trump wins more than 240 electoral votes, I will eat a bug.”

In fact, he had thought Trump would lose since it takes 270 to win the presidency.

However, the Republican ended up taking the election with 290 electoral votes so Wang returned to Smerconish on November 5th to discuss the discrepancy.

Ultimately, the pollster was asked about the bug, and in response, he held up a can of “gourmet-style crickets.”

After saying the bug eating was sensationalist and not important in bringing the country together, he eventually ate one of the honey-covered bugs from a bowl.

He described the taste as “mostly honey-ish, a little nutty.”
