Professor Who Predicted Trump Win Also Envisions Trump Impeachment

An academic who is one of the few to have projected Donald Trump’s win in the presidential election also foresees a Trump impeachment, reports the New York Times.

As far back as September, Allan Lichtman with American University was noted as saying that his historically accurate system of 13 keys, or factors, indicated a Republican White House despite an overwhelming trend towards Hillary Clinton.

Now, a recent Washington Post report points out that, around a similar time, Lichtman also envisioned that Trump may be ousted by his own party.

The news outlet quotes the professor as saying, “I'm going to make another prediction. This one is not based on a system, it's just my gut. They don't want Trump as president, because they can't control him. He's unpredictable. They'd love to have Pence — an absolutely down the line, conservative, controllable Republican. And I'm quite certain Trump will give someone grounds for impeachment, either by doing something that endangers national security or because it helps his pocketbook.”

Meanwhile, another scholar, Christopher Lewis Peterson with the University of Utah, published a paper in September which assesses Trump’s merits for impeachment based on fraud allegations connected to Trump University.
