Beth Hart: 'Beating Addiction Feels Like Surviving a Plane Crash'

  • 5 jaar geleden
The past few years have been highly productive for American singer Beth Hart. With Fire On The Floor she's releasing her second album in as many years, and on top of that, she has (another) album on the way with blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa. Hart has never hid her struggles with substance and alcohol abuse, and says part of what drives her creativity is a sense of gratitude for overcoming her demons. But when Amy Winehouse passed away in 2011 the singer couldn't help but feel a sense of survivors guilt. “What I saw her go through and what I saw my sister go through was very similar, and it happened to me but somehow I survived. You're so grateful to god that you did but another part of you feels so confused and almost ashamed that you survived and someone else didn't.”
