Rolling Stone found liable for defamation

On Friday a jury found Rolling Stone liable for defamation regarding a story published in 2014 about an alleged gang rape at the University of Virginia.
The suit was filed by Nicole Eramo, a school administrator, and claimed that the article made her appear insensitive and callous towards an alleged rape victim.
The story quickly garnered national attention but was eventually discredited due to lack of evidence and journalistic failures by the reporter.
Both the publisher, Wenner Media, and the reporter, Sabrina Rubin Erdely, were also found liable.
