Horrifying footage shows girl, 17, getting hit by a bus in Ohio

DAYTON, OHIO — Officials have released surveillance footage showing the shocking moment a bus slammed into a 17-year-old girl in Dayton, Ohio.

The incident happened at around 7a.m. on Thursday, the Dayton Daily News reported. An RTA bus had just pulled away from a stop near Shiloh Park, and was heading towards the intersection of Shoup Mill Road and Riverside Drive.

Dashcam and surveillance video from inside the bus shows that as the vehicle drives across the intersection, a figure runs in from the left. The pedestrian steps right into the path of the bus and is immediately hit — slamming against the front windshield before the force of the collision sends her flying towards the side of the road.

Cracks can be seen on the windshield as the bus slows to a stop. The bus driver quickly gets off the bus to check on the girl, as shocked passengers can be heard reacting to what happened.

Unbelievably, the girl only suffered fractures to her leg and wrist, and is being treated at Dayton Children’s Hospital.

Authorities have yet to determine who had the right of way. The video, however, seems to show a green light reflected on the pavement, suggesting the driver may have had the go signal when the accident occurred.
