Dubai Man Spends $9M To Acquire A Single Digit License Plate
  • 7 years ago
A real estate developer from Dubai recently acquired a single digit license plate to place on one of his Rolls-Royces. It set him back the equivalent of roughly $9 million.

Most people don’t spend more on their license plate than they do on their car, but Balwinder Sahni isn’t most people.
CNN Money reports that the real estate developer from Dubai recently acquired a single digit plate to place on one of his Rolls-Royces.
It set him back the equivalent of roughly $9 million.
This is not Sahni’s first high-ticket license plate purchase.
Prior to his recent acquisition of the number 5 ID plaque, he purchased number 9 for roughly $6.7 million.
Sahni bought both at government auctions, but many searching for plates bearing low numbers turn to secondary markets.
One example is the site called numbers.ae, a platform where people can buy and sell desirable digits.
