FBI gets warrant to review newly discovered Clinton emails

WASHINGTON — With just over a week to go until the U.S. election on Nov. 8, Federal investigators last Friday announced the existence of new emails related to Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s private server.

The New York Times reports that the emails were discovered during an investigation into Anthony Weiner’s illicit messages to an underage girl.

On Oct. 3, the agency executed a search warrant to examine Weiner’s iPhone, iPad and laptop. It was in the laptop — which the former Congressman shared with ex-wife and Clinton aide Huma Abedin — that agents found the emails.

FBI officials have since obtained a search warrant to review the emails pertaining to the Democratic Presidential candidate and will investigate whether they contained classified information.

It remains unclear how long the review process will take, but it will likely go beyond election day.
