Police in New Jersey are investigating a Monday night incident involving a man who jumped off a Wanaque Township bridge while holding his two young children.
Both local and state authorities responded to the scene and searched the wooded area beneath the overpass.
The children, ages 1 and 3, were found alive and rushed to an area hospital, reports CNN.
They were listed in serious condition, but none of their injuries are life-threatening.
The father succumbed to the 100-foot fall.
CNN reports that authorities believe that the jump was intentional.
Not long before the incident, he had reportedly gotten into an altercation with his wife and allegedly threatened to do harm to their children.
The man then got into a car with the kids and drove away, ending up at the bridge, located near the Wanaque River, notes WABC.
