For decades, the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner, a posh New York fundraising event, has seen presidential candidates offer lighthearted comments about politics, their opponents, and themselves.
This year, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are expected to continue with the tradition of civility, humor, and all around good times.
The event will be held on Thursday evening at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, and both candidates have confirmed their participation, reports WCBS.
Staffers of the campaigns have given no indication about what will be said, but it is, of course, hoped that the tenor of their previous exchanges will be left at the door.
In the past, Trump has referred to Clinton as "Crooked Hillary."
Clinton has suggested Trump is “a puppet” and characterized his campaign as “hateful” and “divisive.”
