Governor Chris Christie has long been a supporter of Donald Trump but appears to be distancing himself from the candidate’s downward-sloping campaign, reports the Huffington Post.
When asked by NBC News if he’s proud of the way Trump has been managing his run for president as of late, Christie declined to give a direct answer.
Instead, he responded, “Listen, for me, the person who needs most to be concerned about the kind of the campaign they’re running is the candidate, because it’s the candidate’s campaign…It’s not my campaign…I’m proud of everything I have said and that’s all I can control. The rest of it I can't control...”
The brief interview was broadcast on the Tuesday airing of MSNBC’s Morning Joe.
Last week, while serving as the co-host of the Boomer & Carton radio show, Christie had noted that he was “really disturbed” by the 2005 'Access Hollywood' footage and dissatisfied with Trump’s apology but intended to continue his support of the GOP candidate as, “In the end, this election is about bigger issues."
