Jeopardy’s Alex Trebek recently drove a wedge between himself and some Nerdcore music fans.

Jeopardy game show host Alex Trebek recently drove a wedge between himself and some nerdcore music fans.
At the start of Wednesday evening’s episode, contestant Susan Cole revealed she was fond of nerdcore hip-hop.
When Trebek asked what that particular brand of music involves she explained, “It’s people who identify as nerdy, rapping about the things they love. Video games, science fiction, having a hard time meeting romantic partners. It’s really catchy and fun.”
The Jeopardy host swiftly responded, “Losers, in other words.”
Though Trebek followed the comment with, “I'm teasing you,” at least one devotee of the genre found the clarification of intent entirely unsatisfactory.
Mega Ran, a popular nerdcore hip-hop artist responded to the slight with a freshly minted rap.
It includes the lines, “Alex Trebek, you lost a lot of respect / I gotta check you off the rip for coming outta your neck / Talking sideways on geeks, man, you’re a trip / Guess you hadn’t heard, nerds make up half of your viewership.”
