Newt Gingrich has been one of Donald Trump’s faithful supporters, but that apparently changed following the GOP candidate’s recent tirade against the party.
In response to Trump’s harsh comments about the lack of a congratulatory phone call from Speaker Paul Ryan after Sunday’s debate, Gingrich told Fox Business on Thursday, “Look, first of all, let me just say about Trump, who I admire and I’ve tried to help as much as I can. There’s a big Trump and a little Trump. The little Trump is frankly pathetic. I mean, he’s mad over not getting a phone call?”
He also noted, “Donald Trump has one opponent. Her name is Hillary Clinton. Her name is not Paul Ryan. It’s not anybody else.”
Gingrich continued, “Donald Trump should have to go out and make the case – because the elite media won’t – he has to make a case that is clear, unified, simple, that people understand.”
