US crude surpasses $50 per barrel for first time since June

Oil prices climbed Thursday, with U.S. crude passing $50 a barrel intraday for the first time since late June.
U.S. crude futures were up 44 cents, or 0.9 percent, at $50.27 a barrel, having broken above $50 for the first time since June this year.
It rose to a session peak of $50.51 on Thursday that marked the highest level since June 22.
Brent, the global benchmark, gained 54 cents, or 1%, to $52.40 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Oil has been on its strongest rally since mid-August, now up more than 12% in just a little more than a week.
