Rumi says that women are witless and cannot make sound decisions

BÜLENT SEZGİN: There is this statement of Mawlana Rumi in the 733rd page of the 6th volume of Masnavi regarding the dreams of women. "Consider the dreams of women inferior to those of men in that the women's intelligence is flawed and their body is weak.

ADNAN OKTAR: He says that "even the dreams of women are inferior," doesn’t he?

BÜLENT SEZGİN: Yes, he does.

ADNAN OKTAR: Why is that? He says that women have lesser minds, including your mothers and sisters. How can one claim that such a statement has spiritual depth? Whoever says so is terribly mistaken.

BÜLENT SEZGİN: In another one of his quotes he says "Consult women and then do the opposite of what they advised. Indeed, those who had not defied them perished."

ADNAN OKTAR: In other words, he says we should defy women and do the opposite of what they say; that we should not take their words into consideration. Hazrat Marry, Hazrat Aisha, Hazrat Fatima; these too were all women. These insults are aimed at our mothers, our sisters. Only a callous person can accept such insults, and I am not one.

BÜLENT SEZGİN: We can show another page. "The messenger of God was very accurate in saying 'do the opposite of what women say'. ”Consult women and then do the opposite of what they advised. Those who do not defy their wives waste their breath."

ADNAN OKTAR: Masnavi is riddled with astounding misogyny. There is no end to it.

For example look, "women are witless and cannot make sound decisions. The Prophet said ‘consult them, and then do the opposite of what they say." He even slanders the Prophet (saas). "Women are witless", look, this is an unambiguous statement; how can you deny it? He says that women cannot make sound decisions. Does he imply that women are abnormal creatures? Then, who is Hazrat Khadija ? Who is Hazrat Aisha? Who is Hazrat Mary? Doesn't this constitute an insult to all our mothers and sisters? "Know your soul as woman. Know it worse than a woman, because woman is torn in half. But soul is completely evil." Look at what he says; "Know your soul as woman" and then he goes on to say "But soul is completely evil." What can you infer from such a statement? That woman is evil. Because look at what Rumi says: "Know your soul as woman." And then what does he say? "But soul is completely evil." Therefore, according to him, woman is evil.
