Photo Showing Virginia Beach Bar Using Kaepernick Jersey As Doormat Stirs Outrage

The Krossroads Rock and Country Bar in Virginia Beach, Virginia, is being accused of racism by former patron James Perry for taping Colin Kaepernick’s 49ers jersey to the front entrance floor; Perry criticized the bar and called for a boycott in a recent Facebook post.

A restaurant in Virginia Beach, Virginia, has decided to weigh in on Colin Kaepernick’s protest of the national anthem in a unique way--by turning his 49ers jersey into a doormat.

A man named James Perry recently posted a photo of the quarterback’s jersey duck taped to the front entrance floor of the Krossroads Rock and Country Bar to his Facebook page.

In the message, he criticizes the restaurant, stating, in part, that “This young man is exercising his constitutional right and is being [villainized] for it.”

He goes on to say that Kaepernick didn’t commit any crimes and accuses the bar of acting out of racism; the post ends by calling for a boycott of the place.

WTKR reports, however, that not all the customers found the action offensive, and that the general manager has said that the decision was “about sportsmanship and Kaepernick's disrespect of the flag - not race.”
