Officers injured as protests break out in Charlotte

Police in North Carolina shot and killed a black man they said was armed outside an apartment complex in Charlotte on Tuesday, setting off violent protests that continued late into the night.
In Charlotte, a crowd of several hundred shouting protesters continued to block streets well after midnight, despite the use of tear gas by police in riot gear.
A dozen police officers were injured Tuesday night in clashes with several hundred people protesting an officer-involved fatal shooting in the University City area.
