Florida was impressive defensively by allowing only 53 offensive yards to North Texas with negative 13 rushing yardage. On the ground the Gators ran for nearly 6 yards a carry on their 43 runs. Luke Del Rio completed 14 of 25 passes for 186 yards with a pick. This will be the first major test of the year for the team.

Tennessee is 3-0 with the 28-19 home victory to the Ohio Bobcats as a -27 point favorite. The total went under 57 ½ points. The Volunteers struggled pulling away from the Bobcats holding a 21-19 lead at the start of the fourth quarter. The offense produced 404 yards with 201 rushing on 42 carries. Joshua Dobbs hit on 19 of 27 passes for 203 yards with two touchdowns and a pick. Defensively Tennessee held the Bobcats to 88 yards on the ground on 30 carries for less than three yards per carry. The Volunteers struggled for offense in a 20-13 week one home victory in overtime to Appalachian St. They beat Virginia Tech 45-25 on a neutral field in week two.
