It has come to light that, in 2011, Ahmad Rahmani's father filed a lawsuit against the city of Elizabeth, New Jersey, its law enforcement officers, and a fellow citizen.

Late on Monday morning, Ahmad Khan Rahami was taken into custody under suspicion of involvement in the Saturday New York and New Jersey bomb explosions.
It has come to light that, in 2011, his father filed a lawsuit against the city of Elizabeth, New Jersey, its law enforcement officers, and a fellow citizen.
According to the New York Daily News, the filing alleges that all named in the lawsuit harassed and discriminated against his family because they are Muslim.
The case, which has since been stayed, cites a number of incidents involving the Rahami’s restaurant, First American Fried Chicken.
Among the assertions are unjust violations and closure attempts related to operating hours.
The lawsuit also claims that a neighbor told the family, “Muslims make too much trouble in this country,” and, “Muslims should not have businesses here.”
