Footage has emerged from China of the Tiangong-2 space lab being launched successfully overnight.

The video, captured in Jiuquan, Gansu Province on Thursday, shows the unmanned Tiangong-2 spacecraft heading into orbit on board a Long March-2F T2 rocket.

It is preparing for the construction of a space station in the next decade.
