Clinton to resume campaigning after doctor declares her "healthy and fit"

Hillary Clinton is to return to the campaign trail today (Thursday Sept 15) after being declared “healthy and fit to serve” as US president, in a letter from her doctor

The Democratic candidate’s updated medical condition was disclosed by her campaign team.

Clinton (aged 68) fell ill at the weekend after being diagnosed with bacterial pneumonia.

Meanwhile in Las Vegas, her husband Bill, who was standing in for his convalescing wife at an election rally, played down the attention given to Hillary’s illness:

“She’s feeling great and I think she’ll be back out there tomorrow so, it’s a crazy time we live in when people think there’s something unusual about getting the flu, last time I checked millions of people were getting it every year.”

Clinton’s secrecy over her health has been used by her opponents to accuse her of a lack of transparency.

Both candidates, (Republican nominee Donald Trump is 70) are among the oldest ever to run for the White House and have been under intense pressure to share more medical information. Additional records now released show Clinton’s blood pressure and cholesterol levels are within normal ranges.

Hillary's released her medical information and tax returns.

We're still waiting for Trump to do the same. https://t.co/bxHbFLs24l— Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton) September 14, 2016
