1995 Hardee's ad featuring a tie-in from the popular 1989-97 ABC sitcom Coach; with Jerry Van Dyke and Bill Fagerbakke (in character as Luther Van Dam and Michael "Dauber" Dybinski; assistant coaches under Orlando Breakers head coach {the last two seasons saw the characters taking the helm of the Breakers, a fictional NFL expansion team likely based on the Jacksonville Jaguars, who debuted in 1995-96. Previous seasons had the characters on staff of the fictional Minnesota State University Screaming Eagles} Hayden Fox {Craig T. Nelson; does not appear in the ad}); with Luther helping himself to Hayden's Big Hardee (touted as having 33% more beef than the Whopper and 66% more than the Big Mac).
The Big Hardee was new for 1995 and would later be reintroduced (apparently in select markets) as an attempt to counter McDonald's short-lived attempt to join the Angus beef bandwagon Hardee's had started (at least; among the burger chains) in the early 2000's.
