After 9 years of marriage, a couple finally unwrapped a wedding gift labeled, “Do not open until 1st disagreement.”

Marriage can be tough at times, and arguments are bound to happen.
A bride and groom received a wedding gift for just such an occasion. It came with the instruction, "Do not open until 1st disagreement."
After 9 years of marriage, Kathy and Brandon Gunn finally unwrapped the box.
Kathy shared photos on Facebook showing the wine glasses, cash and notes inside the box from her great aunt and talked about the immense impact the present has had on the marriage.
She wrote, “Now, there had obviously been plenty of disagreements...but we never opened the box…I honestly think that we both avoided turning to the box, because it would have symbolized our failure. To us, it would have meant that we didn’t have what it takes to make our marriage work – and we’re both too stubborn and determined for that. So, it forced us to reassess situations."
Kathy further noted, "For 9 years that box sat high on a shelf…yet it somehow taught us about tolerance, understanding, compromise and patience….Today, we decided to open that box, because…I realized that the tools for…a strong, healthy marriage were never within that box -- they were within us.”
