Crafty murder suspect breaks handcuffs and escapes police custody

LAS VEGAS — Shocking surveillance footage showed how a murder suspect escaped police custody in Las Vegas.
Alonso Perez, 25, was taken into custody on Sept. 2 under suspicion of murder. After being left alone in an interrogation room with one arm handcuffed to a table, Perez managed to twist the restraints enough to break them.
Police said that Perez then pushed a chair up against a wall, climbed up into the rafters and made his way out of the building. Once outside, he found an idling truck, which he stole and drove away.
It took nearly 40 minutes for North Las Vegas Police detectives to notice the murder suspect was missing and another four days before he was apprehended.
Perez was booked for murder with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, escape and grand larceny auto.
He stands accused of killing 31-year-old Mohammed Robinson.
On Aug. 27, a woman at a McDonald’s in North Las Vegas reportedly became upset because Robinson didn’t hold the door open for her. The woman turned to the man she was with, who was reportedly Perez, who then fatally shot Robinson with a gun before the pair fled the scene.
