On Tuesday, Ted Cruz weighed in on both Colin Kaepernick’s ongoing protest of racial discrimination in the U.S. and President Obama’s support of the quarterback’s right to do so.
On Tuesday, Senator Ted Cruz weighed in on both Colin Kaepernick’s ongoing protest of racial discrimination in the U.S. and President Obama’s support of the quarterback’s right to do so.
In regards to Kaepernick, Cruz told a TMZ reporter, "You know, it's sad when you see rich, spoiled athletes that don't recognize what an incredible blessing this country is. You know, it's very easy when you're sitting there rolling in millions of dollars to disrespect this country."
As for the president’s comments, which included noting that Kaepernick has sparked conversation about issues that warrant discussion, Cruz said, “I gotta say, I was disappointed to see President Obama stand with Kaepernick and say, ‘that’s right, disrespect the flag.’ That’s not the job of the president. The president should be standing up for America.”
