President Obama is scheduled to meet with Philippine leader Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday, but, after being the target of an expletive-laden message, he’s rethinking his attendance, reports the New York Daily News.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Duterte took the office of president in June, and in the time since has launched a war on drugs that has claimed thousands of lives.
The topic is one Duterte refuses to address during talks with Obama.
During a Monday press conference he was quite emphatic on the matter, announcing, “I do not have any master except the Filipino people, nobody but nobody. You must be respectful. Do not just throw questions. Putang ina I will swear at you in that forum.”
Putang ina translates as son of a b___h, notes CBS News.
Obama has since announced his staff is investigating whether the meeting has any chance of being "productive."
