The Fresno St Bulldogs are headed to the road to play the Nebraska Cornhuskers in an NCAA college football game on tap for Saturday.

Fresno St concluded play in 2015 with a record of 3-9 and missed a bowl game for the first time since the 2011 season. Tim DeRuyter enters his fifth year with the school and will have seven starters back on offense with five to the defense. Freshman Chason Virgil will start at quarterback. He will have all the weapons from the passing back back from last year. Fresno St’s offense was very poor last year as the team averaged 315 yards with 22 points per game. The defensive play was bad in 2015 as the Bulldogs allowed opponents 36 points with 446 yards per game.

Nebraska finished off play a season ago with a record of 6-7. They earned a bowl berth with a 5-7 mark and beat UCLA 37-29 in the Foster Farm Bowl. Mike Riley is in his second year with the school and will have seven starters back on offense and six to the defense. Many of the offensive playmakers are seniors including starting quarterback Tommy Armstrong. Last year Armstrong completed 55.2% of his throws for 3030 yards with 22 touchdowns and 16 picks. He did rush for seven touchdowns. The Cornhuskers struggled in 2015 defending the pass by allowing 291 yards per game.
