A Utah man who went missing in 2004 while visiting China is, according to a recent report from the Japan News Network, alive and living in North Korea, notes KUTV.
There, David Sneddon is said to have a wife, two children, and a job teaching English.
Kim Jong-un is identified as one of his students, reports The Lincoln Journal Star.
At the time of his disappearance, Sneddon was 24 years old. According to Chinese authorities, he had likely fallen to his death when in Yunnan Province on a hiking trip.
His parents have maintained that no such thing happened. It has long been their belief that Sneddon was forcibly taken to North Korea, likely due to his knowledge of multiple languages.
Earlier this year, a request for an investigation into his whereabouts was submitted to Congress for approval, but has yet to be addressed, notes KSL.
Sneddon’s mother, Kathleen, says she hopes the recent news report will help speed up that process.
