UCLA finished the 2015 campaign with a record of 8-5. They were defeated 37-29 to Nebraska in the Foster Farms Bowl. Jim Mora returns for his fifth season as head coach with four starters on offense and nine to the defense. Josh Rosen returns under center for his sophomore season. During his rookie campaign Rosen hit on 60% of his passes for 3670 yards with 23 touchdowns and 11 picks. He is not much of a threat to run and had difficulty feeling pressure in the pocket. A big loss from the team is running back Paul Perkins who will make an NFL roster. His backups from last year Soso Jamabo and Nate Starks each averaged over six yards a carry last year. When Myles Jack got injured the UCLA Bruins suffered on defense. Jack is off to the NFL. UCLA was the 67th overall defense and were 98th ranked against the run and will need major improvement. On offense they put up 32.2 points per game ranking 45th in the nation.

Texas A&M concluded the 2015 season with a mark of 8-5. They fell to Louisville 27-21 in the Music City Bowl. Kevin Sumlin is on the hot seat as he returns for his fifth year with the program. There will be six starters back on offense and seven to the defense. The quarterback situation has been much-maligned since Johnny Manziel left the program. Trevor Knight a senior and transfer from Oklahoma will get the start. During his years with the Sooners, Knight struggled with interceptions and lost his starting job. The Aggies have seen their offensive production nosedive. The team was 72nd in scoring offense by averaging 27.8 points per game. Defensively they struggled in run defense ranking 108th in the nation by surrendering 213 yards per game. Texas A&M have a very experienced receiving core.
