Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump continues to voice his support for a campaign adviser who has publicly advocated that Hillary Clinton “be shot.”
The controversy surrounds New Hampshire state representative Al Baldasaro who, in July, criticized Clinton’s actions surrounding the Benghazi attack then stated, “Hillary Clinton should be put in the firing line and shot for treason.”
In an interview with NH1 News in New Hampshire on Thursday, Trump was asked about Baldasaro's comments.
Trump responded by saying, “Well, I didn't know that but I will tell you he's a very fine person. He is a person that loves the military and he loves the veterans.”
When the interviewer followed up by asking him about condoning Baldasaro’s comments, the candidate said, “I don't know what he said. You'd have to show me what he said.”
However, some critics have questioned this response, citing the high level of media attention the representative’s remarks have generated.
