New minimum wage means unemployment for migrants

Three out of four low-skilled migrants in Thailand are from Burma. They do the dirty, dangerous and demanding jobs and are often exploited by their employers.

The Thai government has just introduced a minimum wage of 300 Baht [$10 US] per day. But as a result many companies say they can no longer afford to pay all their workers and are laying many of them off.
