Authorities in Pennsylvania have made two arrests in connection to the death of 56-year-old Ronald Bettig, a Penn State professor who, prior to the Wednesday discovery of his body, had been missing for roughly a week.
It is alleged the suspects, Danelle Geier and George Ishler Jr., who were friends with Bettig executed a plot to kill him as they believed they were included in his will.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Ishler lured the professor to a Potter Township cliff with promises of harvestable marijuana, notes the Centre Daily Times.
Once at the quarry’s edge, he shoved Bettig into the 80-foot-deep pit, reports WCAU.
Geier, who was living with Bettig at the time, is accused of helping set up the scene to make it appear as if the victim had been there alone.
Both are facing murder charges.
