A man who recently completed a prison sentence for a 2001 road rage killing was fatally shot on Wednesday during a traffic-related altercation with another driver, reports WFTV.
According to authorities, in the hours before sunrise, Gary Lynn Durham, 40, was driving along Martin Luther King Boulevard in Plant City, Florida.
For reasons that are unclear at this time, he stopped his vehicle and approached the car behind him, notes the Tampa Bay Times.
Durham and the driver of that vehicle, Robert Padgett, reportedly argued.
Padgett allegedly gave Durham a verbal warning before taking out a gun, notes WFTV.
Ultimately, Durham was shot at least once, according to WTSP.
When police arrived, Padgett was attempting to administer medical assistance to Durham, but it was too late.
Charges have not been filed at this time, as the investigation into whether Padgett acted in self-defense is still ongoing.
