NFL Point Spread Odds: Arizona -3

Notes: There is hope in Oakland as they are sitting amongst the favorites to win the AFC West title. Derek Carr is returns as the starting quarterback for the Silver and Black. The team saw improvement in their passing attack but must get better in the run game and on defense defending the pass. Carr should see limited work in the preseason opener. Matt McGloin enters his fourth season and will backup Carr. McGloin has started six games during his rookie campaign and saw mop up work in two games last season. Rookie Connor Cook out of Michigan St is competing for the backup position.

Arizona is the defending NFC West champion a year ago. They fell at Carolina by a touchdown in the NFC Championship. Carson Palmer returns under center and will play a series or two. He engineered the top offense in the league sitting second in the league in passing by tossing for 288 yards per game. The backup for Palmer will be veteran Drew Stanton who has nine years in the league. Matt Barkley is battling for a roster spot now in his fourth season in the league. Jake Coker a rookie out of Alabama is competing in camp for the Cardinals.
