Authorities in New York are investigating the death of 30-year-old Karina Vetrano of Queens and, at this time, suspect she was a victim of both murder and sexual assault.
Vetrano went out for a run on Tuesday afternoon, but when she didn’t return home as expected her father called police, reports WNBC.
At roughly 11 pm, authorities found her body in a marsh not far from a jogging trail.
According to police sources, her pants had been pulled down, suggesting a sexual assault, and she appeared to have been strangled.
The investigation into both suspicions is ongoing and the medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death, notes the New York Daily News.
