A mayor’s effort to publicize a local hospital’s new 3-D mammography machine has likely saved her life.
Tulsa World is reporting that Mayor Gina Noble of Stillwater, Oklahoma held a press conference on Wednesday announcing that her scan showed that she had breast cancer.
Noble explained that she had been asked by the Stillwater Medical Center to participate in a public service announcement about the new technology.
Within 24 hours of getting a mammogram, she learned about the diagnosis, notes KOCO.
Fortunately, the disease appears to be at stage zero, "meaning it had not spread."
Noble stated, “I was meant to do that mammography, and thank goodness, because it did catch it early.”
She plans to begin treatment in the coming days.
